Thea Dunmire

About the Expert

Thea Dunmire assists organizations with the implementation of integrated management systems, the development of internal audit programs and establishing effective organizational processes for complying with complex legal requirements. She has worked for a wide range of organizations in a variety of sectors – from health care and pharmaceuticals, to mining and energy.

Thea is a certified industrial hygienist, a certified safety professional and a RABQSA EMS Lead Auditor. In January 2012, she was listed in ISHN’s Power 101 as one of the leaders of the environmental, health and safety world.

She has been active for many years in the development of management system standards:

• Active participant in writing OHSAS 18001 and ANSI Z10 – occupational health and safety management system standards.

• Secretary of U.S. TAG to TC 207, the ISO Technical Committee focused on the development of environmental management system standards.

• Designated U.S. Expert for the 2011 revision of the ISO 19011 – Guidelines for Management System Auditing.

• Chair of ANSI ASC Z1-Auditing Subcommittee leading efforts to develop additional auditing guidelines for the United States.

Thea is an author, trainer and professional speaker on topics related to developing strategies for management system implementation, instituting and assessing sustainability programs and understanding how to play a role in international standards development.
