George Hummel

About the Expert

George Hummel has executive management responsibilities for a 3rd Party Certification Body accredited by the UKAS.  He also is involved in auditor qualification and certification audits.  He is a certified Quality Management Lead Auditor, a certified Occupational Health & Safety Lead Auditor and a certified Environmental Lead Auditor. George is an elected member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) that represents the United States at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for Quality management and assurance.  As a member of the TAG, he was involved with the validation of ISO 9001:2008 and is a member of the US Interpretations Work Group.

George participates in the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council and is their subject matter expert on Quality for the Skills Standards Certification process.  In this regard, he has worked with the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency establishing a job training program for poverty-level participants under the Federal Government’s stimulus program.

He is a member of the Montgomery County Workforce Investment Board.

In 1995, he founded IQC, llc., a consulting, training and auditing organization the has over 1500 clients worldwide.  IQC provides implementation and training services for Quality, Environmental, Laboratory and Security Management Systems.

George was responsible for the development and implementation of the automotive sector’s 3rd party auditor recertification program for QS-9000 and the certification process for the Tooling & Equipment Supplement.

He has authored training programs for Caterpillar, Harley-Davidson, The American Supplier Institute, NASA, the FAA, Gleason, the Commercial Vehicle Group and Plexus International.  He is a Master Trainer for Development Dimensions International, as well as Plexus and is a certified DACUM facilitator.  He is also Certified in QuadRed – an organizational culture application.

He has consulting and training delivery background in Lean Management, Project Management, Balanced Scorecard and 6 Sigma.

George is the former Vice-Mayor of Trotwood and School Board President in Vandalia-Butler.  In both cities, he received numerous community service awards.  He has also received the Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement from the Affiliate Societies Council of Dayton (2008).  He has served on the National League of Cities Human Development Committee.  He was elected to the Democratic National Committee, representing municipalities.  In 1984, he was a member of the White House’s Conference on Inter-governmental Relations.  He has served on the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission’s Economic Development Committee. Before his election to the Trotwood City Council, he was the Director of the Trotwood Police Department’s Project Intercept and Chairman of the Trotwood-Madison’s Commission on Youth.

He has completed his second term on the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.  He served one term on the Executive Committee.  He was the DACC’s representative to the Dayton Public Schools Citizens’ Advisory Committee.  In 2010, he was a member of the Strategic Planning committee as he began his third term.

He has served as a member of the Dayton Tooling and Manufacturing Association’s Government Relations Committee.

George is a member of the University of Dayton Operations Management Advisory Committee.  He has also taught in their MBA program, as well as being Adjunct Faculty at Edison State, teaching the Toyota Production System.

George also is a member of The American Society for Quality and is an Associate of the UK’s Chartered Quality Institute.

He has served on the Muhlenberg College Alumni Executive Council, where he majored in History and Political Science.  He has also earned two master’s degrees.

George has been married to his wife Jeanette for 44 years and they have two grown children, Elissa and Seth. Jeanette and George live in Oakwood, a suburb of Dayton, OH.
